Malaria as an endemic disease in sub-Saharan Africa is responsible for about 90% morbidity and mortality among children and pregnant women. Convinced that government alone cannot deal with the damaging and fatal blow of the scourge without active and committed collaboration of communities, international and national development partners and local stakeholders, the Malaria Society of Nigeria whose membership has no geographical limits was launched in 1992 to address part of these problems.
